“Our Doula provided guidance with breastfeeding and some massage each day. She put a glass of water anywhere in the apartment that I might sit. She made sure I ate breakfast and lunch. She urged me to nap when my son napped. She changed or held the baby if I was in the shower. She also prepared a home cooked dinner and set the table before she left for the day. When my husband came home from work it was really nice to enjoy the meal together and not worry about what to eat or who was going to cook. She performed all these tasks with great care, consideration and love. She enjoyed helping us and she was very good at it.”– Julie
“Our Doula was calm, confident, knowledgeable, supportive, supremely helpful and wildly enthusiastic about our little girl. She helped with breastfeeding, arranging the baby's room, keeping track of the baby's feedings and dirty diapers, and countless other things. She cooked tasty and nutritious meals, cleaned the apartment, did the dishes, made excellent suggestions about what baby-related things we needed and then went out and got them for us, did the laundry, arranged for a visit from a lactation consultant, gave top-notch massages, and provided much-needed encouragement and moral support – always without us asking, with a big smile, and with great care. She had boundless energy when we were bleary-eyed. She was cool-headed when we were anxious. She took care of us, while at the same time, taught us to take care of our daughter and each other.
She came without judgments about the right way to care for a baby. Rather, she was there to help, something she was gifted at." – Brook

Postpartum Support
Postpartum doulas assist your family and household in the first days and weeks after your baby is born. This allows you to focus on adjusting to the rhythms of your new life.
Consider that the period after your baby's birth is the FOURTH trimester. Your baby is fully dependant on you and you need extra support to fully enjoy this honeymoon period for your new or growing family.
Our role is to provide knowledge and resources to help you understand your newborn as well as your own special needs during this period, so that you can care for your baby and yourself with confidence as you transition from pregnancy to parenthood. We offer a free consultation, unlimited phone and email support and we meet you in your home after the baby's birth to:
-
Help you read your baby's feeding cues,
-
Assist you through those first diaper changes and baths,
-
Offer knowledgeable breast-feeding support as well as an extra pair of arms to hold your little one while you sleep or shower.
-
Help you recognize the signs infants give to tell the world they are developing normally and make referrals for special care when you need it.
-
Teach you baby massage techniques and other soothing secrets to help you bond with your baby and adjust to its needs.
-
Offer light mommy massage so that you can relax and get the naps you need.
-
Cook meals and take care of light cleaning and other household tasks so that your home stays orderly and your mind at peace.
-
Run errands and take care of your grocery shopping.
We differ from most baby nurses in that we won't take over the care of your baby or prescribe a specific parenting style. We won't move in with you, but we offer overnight and extended care as needed.
