" Britt really did think of everything. She arrived at our apartment during my labor with a birth ball, water, snacks and anything else I could have needed. She stepped in right away and really helped to make me feel better. Because of Britt , we were able to stay at home until I was 7-8 cm. This was wonderful as I was able to relax and move around as I wished. By the time we got to the hospital we only had 2 hours until the baby came! It really takes a special person to be a doula. In my opinion, Britt is this person." - Judy
“Dear Wendy, Thank you so very much for your help during my (frantic) delivery! Emily, Brian, and I all agree that you were the crucial component that allowed for things to go as smoothly as they did. For me, you were the calm and reassuring and directive presence that I needed to help guide me through a scenario that I was not prepared for. I am so grateful that I had you with me in the backseat during that crazy car ride. I think all pregnant ladies should skip birthing class and get a doula. Thank you for everything!” -Melissa, Brian, and Scarlett
"Jami has been helping us since the birth of Elise and Lucie, and it has been a great experience. She is so knowledgeable and friendly that the process of learning parental skills seems altogether natural and almost effortless" |
Who are the BabyMoon Doulas?
Britt Sady
It is my honor to support women in having the birth they want and experiencing motherhood in a way that inspires confidence and joy in them and their family. I believe that pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding are among nature's most beautiful achievements and that bringing our babies into this world is among life's peak experiences. I also honor the knowledge gained by western medicine when it is used with great respect for the laboring woman and her child.
I am certified by DONA International as a labor and postpartum doula, and by Lamaze as a childbirth educator.
It was my niece's birth in November of 2003 that convinced me to become a doula. Since that time, I have had many opportunities to attend women through labor and delivery and guide expectant parents in making informed decisions about their baby's birth. I have also had the privilege of assisting many families through those intense and magical days and weeks after the baby arrives.
When I gave birth to my son in June of 2006, it was the mothers I'd assisted who were my greatest teachers and my inspiration.
My years of experience and continued learning give me valuable insight into helping families empower themselves for birth, cope with the beauty and the challenges that arise in labor, and support parents as they care for their infants and create new lives as parents.
My philosophy of support (and that of DONA International) is: “Support is unconditional. It is listening, not judging, not telling your own story. Support is not offering advice, it is offering a handkerchief, a touch, a hug. We are here to help a woman discover what they are feeling, not to make the feelings go away. We are here to help a woman identify her options, not to tell her which options to choose. We are here to discuss steps with a woman, not to take the steps for her. We are here to help a woman discover her own strength, not to rescue her and leave her still vulnerable. We are here to help a woman discover she can help herself, not to take that responsibility for her. We are here to help a woman learn to choose, not to make it unnecessary for her to make difficult choices”.

I attended my first birth at the age of 16, while living in Chile as an exchange student. Since then, I have been amazed by the miracle of birth and the power of women to birth their babies.
I was reintroduced to the birthing community when my sister became pregnant. Interested in her well-being and that of my nephew-on-the-way, I audited childbirth education classes, which is where I first learned about the role of the doula. I was inspired by the expectant couples with whom I attended classes to learn how to support women emotionally and physically before, during, and after labor and birth.
I am now a certified labor doula through DONA International, and I have fallen in love with my work. My agenda as a doula is simply to help expectant mothers and their partners to discover their own agenda for labor and birth, to support them in having the birth experience they desire. It has been a joy to help prepare families for the precious moment of their baby’s birth, through productive conversation, comfort measures practice, and reaffirming, calming support. I am also trained to support women who are educated in Hypnobirthing techniques, which guide women to birth their babies with relaxation and focused awareness.
I am also training as a DONA postpartum doula, and I enjoy supporting families at home after birth. I am expecting my first baby in September.
“Wendy was an incredibly important part of the birth of our child. She helped keep me calm and focused, she anticipated my every need, and her mothering touch got me through the most difficult contractions. I can’t imagine having gone through labor without her.” –Casey

Growing up bilingual in two different cultures, New York and Panama City, I draw from a time-honored tradition in which supporting women is an integral part of community life.
I am a DONA certified Birth Doula and trained Postpartum Doula. I began attending births in 2002. Working with women in labor and the birth of my son in 2005 has inspired me to focus my studies towards becoming a midwife.
As a postpartum doula, I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for babywearing and Diaper Free Infant Hygiene (“Elimination Communication”).
I have a great deal of a respect for and interest in exploring different parenting styles and traditions. I am honored to be a parent mentor helping moms and dads transition confidently into parenthood.
Jami NelsonIt is an honor and privilege to support women and their families during the pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum period. Each stage magnifies the miracle of birth and the remarkable strength of women. My mother inspired and encouraged me to use my passion for babies and breastfeeding to become a doula. Since the birth of my oldest son, born by cesarean section 23 years ago, I became an advocate in educating women on VBAC's.
My 3 younger children were succesful VBAC's. I am certified as a labor doula by DONA International and trained as well as a postpartum doula. I also am a Breastfeeding Peer Support Counselor. I hold certification in adult, child and infant CPR and am always expanding my doula training through workshops and seminars. I practice Reiki and Yoga as well and use these modalities to help women achieve balance and calm needed during each phase of childbirth.
Birth is sacred and through attending many births I have learned so much from the mothers I assist. My philosphy of support (and that of DONA International) is, "The doula's role is to provide phyiscal and emotional support and assistance in gathering information for women and their partners during labor and birth. The doula offers help and advice on comfort measures such as breathing, relaxation movements and positioning. Perhaps the most crucial role of the doula is providing continuous emotional reassurance and comfort.
"You were truly a God send to me and my family. Becoming a first-time mom I was a little weary about the labor process. Though long, you gave me the strength and courage to keep on when I felt I couldn't! You gave me the peace and calm I needed to be able to bring my beloved ALicia into this world. Having you with us was the best decision we ever made." Ingrid |
